Skoda Auto has officially announced the arrival of the Kodiaq RS in India during June 2026, marking the brand’s entry into the competitive performance SUV segment within the country. This high-performance variant promises to be the first of its kind from the Czech automaker in the Indian market, boasting a potent powertrain and sportier aesthetics.
Performance and Powertrain
The Kodiaq RS will be powered by a 2.0-liter TSI petrol engine, delivering a maximum output of 265bhp and 400Nm of torque. This represents a significant power increase compared to the standard Kodiaq, positioning it as a formidable contender in its class. The engine is coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
Skoda claims the Kodiaq RS can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in a brisk 6.3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 231kmph. To manage this enhanced performance, the vehicle incorporates upgraded braking components, including slotted brake discs and front-axle mounted two-pot callipers.
Exterior Design
Visually, the Kodiaq RS distinguishes itself with a more aggressive design. Key exterior features include:
- A blacked-out front grille
- A redesigned front bumper
- Blacked-out C-pillar
- Newly-designed 20-inch alloy wheels with red brake calipers
- Blacked-out ORVMs, roof rails, and window frames
Interior Features
The interior mirrors the exterior’s sporty theme, featuring an all-black cabin accented with contrast red stitching. Bolstered seats adorned with RS branding on the headrests further enhance the premium and performance-oriented ambiance.
Pricing and Competition
The expected price range for the Skoda Kodiaq RS in India is between Rs 55 lakh and Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike the standard Kodiaq, which is imported via a CKD route, the RS variant is anticipated to arrive as a Completely Built Up (CBU) unit.
The Kodiaq RS will directly compete with upcoming models such as the MG Majestor and the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line.
Adaptive Dampers
While the global-spec Kodiaq RS comes equipped with adaptive dampers, their availability in the India-spec model remains unconfirmed as of the announcement.
