Indian Motorcycle Market Records 41.8% Growth in December 2025; Hero Splendor Maintains Lead

The Indian motorcycle market witnessed a substantial surge in December 2025, with the top ten selling models recording a cumulative volume of 7,33,420 units. This performance represents a 41.8% year-on-year (YoY) growth compared to the 5,17,323 units sold in December 2024. Industry data suggests this uptick was driven by a combination of strengthening rural demand, festive season carryover, and diversifying consumer preference across commuter and mid-capacity segments.

Hero MotoCorp continues to command the largest portion of the market, accounting for 45% of the total volumes within the top ten list. The Hero Splendor remains the primary volume driver, recording 2,80,760 units in December 2025, a 45.9% increase over the previous year. Honda Motorcycle \& Scooter India (HMSI) maintained its second-place standing, led by the Shine series which saw 1,41,602 units sold, marking a 40.4% YoY growth. Other notable performers in the utility and entry-level segments include:

  • Hero HF Deluxe: 49,051 units (Up 17.6%)

Performance and Sporty Commuter Growth

The TVS Apache range more than doubled its sales, reaching 45,507 units compared to 20,885 units in December 2024—a 117.9% increase. Bajaj Auto’s Pulsar brand also maintained steady momentum, recording 79,616 units, which reflects a 21.4% YoY improvement. Additionally, the TVS Raider contributed 22,783 units to the tally, growing by 30.5%.

Mid-Capacity Segment Trends

Royal Enfield’s 350cc portfolio continues to stabilize the mid-size motorcycle market, representing 11% of the top ten sales. The Classic 350 remains the brand’s flagship in terms of volume with 34,958 units, an 18% increase. Significant growth was also observed in the Bullet 350 and Hunter 350 models:

  • Royal Enfield Bullet 350: 24,849 units (Up 76.9%)
  • Royal Enfield Hunter 350: 20,654 units (Up 50.3%)

OEM Market Share Insights

The December 2025 data highlights a concentrated market where the top five manufacturers control the majority of high-volume sales. While Hero and Honda lead in absolute volume, TVS Motor Company recorded the highest growth rate at an OEM level within the top ten rankings. Bajaj Auto maintained its position through the Pulsar’s consistent performance, while Royal Enfield’s dominance in the 350cc space remains a key factor in the segment’s overall health heading into 2026.
